Plentiful Harvest

When most people hear the word “harvest”, they think of harvesting crops. I think of the millions of lost souls waiting to be harvested. Day after day, year after year, they wait. If no one will go to them and if no one will support those who go (Romans 10:14-15), they will turn from ripe to rotten and fall off the tree-never to be rescued. The process can never be reversed. Once they have fallen-gone to hell-they cannot be brought back to life. Millions upon millions have rotted and fallen already. The harvest is ripe. The need is urgent.

“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
John 4:35

“Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.”
Matthew 9:37

John Piper said, “Go, Send, or Disobey.” I agree. I would like to tell you about a wonderful sending opportunity that will maximize your God-given resources. A new movement in missions has spread the Gospel to the unreached like never before. Prayers for laborers have been answered! God has raised up native missionaries to carry out the Great Commission more effectively than ever thought possible. Native missionaries know the language, the culture, and have a passionate love for Jesus and for their people groups. All they lack is funds–and incredibly low funds at that. People can help support a native missionary for only thirty dollars a month. A foreign missionary would cost tens of thousands of dollars a year. Foreign missionaries require years of language training, need time to adjust to the new culture, and stand out as a foreigner; native missionaries do not. I made a video that shares about one of my favorite Christian organizations, Gospel for Asia. (See below) Am I saying there will never be a need for western missionaries ever again? Not necessarily. However, for the majority of us, our role will be sending and supporting while we do what we can to reach out to those around us. In the meantime, we can reach hundreds of unreached villages without ever getting on an airplane.

“And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.”
John 4:36-37

“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
2 Corinthians 10:6

The greatest reward is knowing that the more you give, the more people have the chance to hear the Gospel and be saved! That is what I want to reap.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9

I do not think we will fully know what an amazing eternal impact we have made until we go to heaven.

The harvest is ripe. The need is urgent. Please share your ideas for reaching the nations for Christ.

First time to read an article about mission written by someone who is 15 years old. It is my prayer that the Lord God stirs more and more that apostolic passion that you have in you heart.

    Miss Alyssa,
Thank you for this wonderful video presentation. Voice of the Martyrs is another good idea.

Miss Alyssa, God has gifted you with the ability to write, and express what God has laid on your heart! Thank you for sharing this video, too. I think having people be the missionaries of their own country is such a wonderful idea.
    Blessings,
    Sue

I agree, Alyssa! Though the harvest in America may not be white, it sure is that way in other countries! I love this. Is it kind of like VOM?

    Lady Jess,

I have not seen a large amount of people saved in America in a long time, but God seems to be moving right now and bringing revival like I have never seen before. I’m so glad to see His hand still at work, even if the ‘cotton’ fields seem to be decomposing sometimes.

Good job Alyssa! I also believe we will not see the full impact we have for the Kingdom of Christ in this present life.
