Scriptures tell us that:
Matthew 24:44We are always to be ready because we do not know when Christ the Savior will make His glorious return!
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
The United States Coast Guard is Semper Paratus.
They are always on call to race out and save life! Look what they have been up to this week!Coast Guard Rescues Man In Chesapeake BayWow! looks like the Coast Guard has been busy, huh? Alexander Hamiliton founded the US Coast Guard on August 4, 1790 and claims that it is the US' oldest continuous seagoing service. The first US Coast Guard station was in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
As of October 2006, the Coast Guard has had about 42,000 men and women on active duty, 8,100 reservists, 7,000 full time civilian employees and 30,00 Auxiliarists!
The United States Coast Guard is a branch of the United States armed forces, and it's one of the seven uniformed services that our country provides. The Coast Guard is a military branch at all times, but it is unique among all the armed forces because it is also a maritime law enforcement agency that deals with both domestic and international waters, and is a federal regulatory agency. The Coast Guard is an agency of the Department of Homeland Security during peace and can be transferred to the Navy by the President during war. Even though it is the smallest armed service of the US, the Coast Guard's mission is to protect the public, the environment, and the US economic and security interests in any maritime region whose interests may be at risk, even international waters, but mostly America's coasts, ports and inland waterways.

Most military services are either at war or training, but the Coast Guard is deployed everyday to save a life!
The Coast Guard's important role is maritime homeland security, maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, marine environmental protection, and the maintenance of the rivers, intracostal and offshore aids to navigation! The Coast Guard has also participated in every US conflict from 1790 to today! They were with the US troops on D-Day, the Pacific Islands in WWII, extensive patrols and shore bombardment during the Vietnam War, and multiple roles in Operation Iraqi Freedom
They are so awesome because they go out in a moment's notice to rescue someone in freezing or dangerous waters to save lives! That is just such an awesome thing to me. Saving lives is the greatest act of love you can do. Putting your life at risk to save someone else's, just like the Coast Guards do.John 15:13The Coast Guard is always ready to go out and save lives! Even though I have never needed the Coast Guard, I am very blessed by the fact that those Coasties are always ready to go out and save a life! There is also another who goes and saves lives: Jesus! He is always ready to save a life that needs saving! Do you need to be saved?
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
