Growing up that was a song I always loved to sing. Everyone wishes to have peace in their lives. Everyone is searching for:
Philippians 4:7
The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
People want to have a peaceful life. There are different things that people get peace from: watching streams or waterfalls, reading a book, listening to music, drinking their favorite beverage, watch the snow falling, or listening to the rain, taking a drive, etc. Each person tries to find a way to receive peace in their lives. But those are not true ways of having peace in your life. They will not last!
Scriptures tell us that peace is a fruit of having the Holy Spirit in our lives:
Galatians 5:21-23Letting the Holy Spirit in our lives gives us so many fruit and peace is another one of those wonderful fruit!
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
We will have peace and life when we live in the Spirit and have a mind of the Spirit:
Romans 8:6I don't want to have a carnal mind. I don't want death. I want everlasting life and peace that passes all understanding. Before you can have true peace in your life, you have to know Christ.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
John 14:27Jesus is the only one who can give us true peace. His peace is something that only He can give. It is a peace that is like no other The world's peace will not last. It is a temporary fix. Doing all those things I mentioned up there are temporary peace fixes. You can only watch a stream or waterfall for a while. You can only read a book til its over. You can only listen to music til the song ends. You can only drink your favorite beverage til its gone. You can watch the snow falling til it stops and melts. You can only listen to the rain til the sun comes out. And you can only take a drive til the road ends!
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
But Jesus' peace is eternal! It is everlasting, and it is perfect!
Isaiah 26:3When we trust in the Lord and do what He wants from us, then we shall have peace!
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
I wanted to get a better understanding of what peace is and whether we have it in our lives, we need to know what the meaning is:
PEACE, n. [L. pax, paco, to appease.]The world tells us that if we don't have war, we have peace. Is that true? Can there be peace if we don't have war? Peace only comes from God.
1. In a general sense, a state of quiet or tranquillity; freedom from disturbance or agitation; applicable to society, to individuals, or to the temper of the mind.
2. Freedom from war with a foreign nation; public quiet.
3. Freedom from internal commotion or civil war.
4. Freedom from private quarrels, suits or disturbance.
5. Freedom from agitation or disturbance by the passions, as from fear, terror, anger, anxiety or the like; quietness of mind; tranquillity; calmness; quiet of conscience.
6. Heavenly rest; the happiness of heaven.
7. Harmony; concord; a state of reconciliation between parties at variance.
8. Public tranquillity; that quiet,order and security which is guaranteed by the laws; as, to keep the peace; to break the peace.
Psalm 29:11Not only will the Lord give His people peace, but He also says:
The LORD will bless his people with peace.
Matthew 5:9When Jesus gives us His peace, our lives will be so enriched! When you have peace in your life it is very easy to share peace with us and live in peace.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God
Hebrews 12:14See? When we live in peace the world shall see that it is from God. What a wonderful testimony to the salvation of Christ! When people see us living in peace and have peace in our lives, people will want it and wonder what makes us so peaceful. We can share Christ with them and tell Him that we have His peace. And sharing the salvation, love, and peace that comes through Christ is our mission as a child of God.

Amen, Amanda. When we have a personal relationship with Jesus, we can truly have peace. Just knowing that He is in control of every situation gives us peace also.

Good spiritual lesson Miss Amanda. Something I have noticed is that we can have peace even in the midst of a storm. That is when the peace is noticed the most. People wonder how we can have peace in times of storms and it just seems magnified in their eyes.
