We are coming to the close of the year 2008, as we enter the last month of the year. It has been nearly a year since we started GGM! Thank you to all of you who have been so supportive! Most of you are probably beginning to redecorate, just as GGM redecorates each month as well. I chose the winter barn as a special gift for Mrs. D, as she enjoys barns so much and I thought the colors were great for this month. You may have expected the traditional greens and reds for this time of year, but even in my own home we celebrate December with patriotic colors. :O)
Some families celebrate different traditions during December and some don't celebrate anything in particular at all. One thing I know we can agree on is that we serve a Mighty God and we just celebrated being thankful for Thanksgiving. We don't find the early Christians celebrating the birth of anyone, but rather they do celebrate Resurrection Day. We don't believe there is anything wrong or sinful with celebrating someone's birthday, but we do need to be careful how we celebrate a person's birthday.
Each of you may honor the birth of Christ in different unique ways and I don't think God would be unhappy for celebrating the birth of His Son. Yet in some of this month's articles we take a closer look at the traditions and culture that our world calls 'Christmas'.
We love our Lord and certainly do honor Him for what He has done for us all these years, for His birth, death, and resurrection. May we all take some time to ponder the origin of some 'holidays' and what those origins represent. We pray that we will agree that we want to bring honor to Christ in the most pure way possible.
We hope you will enjoy the articles, interview, reviews, and recipes in this month's issue and may your last month in 2008 be a month to grow closer to Christ!
