Miss Amanda: A SuperAngel

I am excited to have the opportunity to interview Miss Amanda, also known as the infamous “Super Angel”. I am sure you will agree that she is a wonderful example of what a young lady looks like who is growing in grace.

Sister Angie:
Miss Amanda, how did you get the nickname “Super Angel”?
Miss Amanda: I have always like the name Angel because its a fun name and because it starts with an A like Amanda. The Super comes from Superman which I absolutely love! I never really had a nickname, so since I like Angel and Superman, I combined them thus coming up with SuperAngel.

Sister Angie: I see that you live on a hobby farm. What is a day in the life like on a hobby farm?
Miss Amanda: A day... never a dull moment is for sure! We have to take care of the house, cleaning up, ordering everything in the right place, cooking, baking. I make the grocery lists and menu planners and do all the laundry! oi! we have a lot. :P Animals always need tending. Goats are escape artists, so we have to watch them constantly! We actually have a goat living in the house right now because he was a preemie and is sick. There is so much to do when you live in a house, especially a farm though. There is also chasing Caleb around and loving on LucyLillie, playing with Isaac. The most important part is spending time together as much as we can! This year I am homeschooling college and helping Mama with the Littles education, not to mention all my work online. Most days I run into town to go to the library or pick up something we need or get fountain drinks from the gas station.

Sister Angie: If you will, tell us what it is like to be the oldest of eight children.
Miss Amanda: It is a very hard job sometimes. Being the oldest you pretty much set everything up for the younger kids. Everything you do is seen and soaked up by the little kids whether its good or bad! So you have to make sure that everything you do is God honoring and pleasing, so they know what is right and wrong. It is a great responsibility and honor to be the oldest and set the bar for your sisters and brothers.

Sister Angie: I am sure that you are rich in family memories. Can you share some of the special moments you have had growing up?
Miss Amanda: Hmm...there are so many memories I have. Some of the most special are watching my brothers and sisters being born and seeing them for the first time and how precious they are! With each baby I realize how special it is to have a baby and how much love I need to give them. Spending time with my Mama is one of my favorite memories. We have had so many wonderful times together. Laughing with my Mama, Sister, Aunt and Grandma til we cry is one of my fondest memories. I have scrapbooks and scrapbooks and folders and boxes of pictures of so many great memories.

Sister Angie: You graduated from high school just this year. As you look back over your school career, what are some of your fondest memories?
Miss Amanda: I think the fondest thing of my schooling was FINALLY realizing how fortunate and blessed I was to be homeschooled. For a long time I wanted to go to christian school because my friends went. Looking back I know that I was truly blessed to be able to be homeschooled! I enjoyed playing soccer with our homeschool group, we went to the YMCA where we learned swimming, exercise, rock wall climbing, gym and more! There were some field trips I enjoyed too like the Windmill Museum, Billy Sunday Museum, Pioneer Day, etc. I think a really big memory I have of school is when I had spent time trying to learn something new, and then finally understanding and getting what I learned. It is a great accomplishment to finally understand something that you have been trying to figure out! When I figured out how to do algebra, I was excited. :)

Sister Angie: What interests do you have in this new season of your life?
Miss Amanda: I am interested in so many things, I just wish I had enough time to do them all! I love working on the computer and learning the technology of it. Blogging is definitely one of my favorite interests! I enjoy writing a lot and keep praying that God will use me to minister for Him. I love reading literature. There are so many great books out there and I haven't really scratched the surface of all the ones I would really like to read. I enjoy exercising through Tae Bo workouts, bike riding and running. I really have an interest in photography and would love to pursue that topic. I love music too and hope to be able to play an instrument soon. I really like the guitar, drums and piano.
There are a lot more interests and things I love too, it would just take a while to list them!

Sister Angie: What is the Lord teaching you as you enter adulthood?
Miss Amanda: Everyday I learn something that God wants me to change in. Something that will bring me closer to Him and what He wants from me. Reading my Bible and having time with God to hear Him has really helped me in my walk and knowing what He wants from me. Also reading Stepping Heavenward shed light on the areas in my life that I should change! And I can't forget how much having a Mama like mine has helped me learn so much about God and His plans!

Sister Angie: If you could give any advice to the tween and teen readers of Growing in Grace, what would that be?
Miss Amanda: Keep yourself emerged in the Scriptures and make time to spend time with God like you would with your friends or Mama. You need to have a very close relationship with your parents. Some may say that it is not important, but it is so very important that you are close!
Always remember: who you are today is who you will be in the future. If you don't want to be the same person in any areas, change them now!

Sister Angie: Please share with us your favorite scripture and tell us why.
Miss Amanda: Can we change 'favorite' to 'favorites'? :) I have so many scriptures that are my favorite and have so many great meanings to them. A couple that are my real favorites are:
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
If we could only just humble ourselves and pray to God and seek His will instead of our own, our land and hearts could be healed! I pray that I will always seek God's will and become humble enough to let Him lead.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 KJV
“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.”
In God's time, everything is perfect. Even when we can't see how it would ever be made right again, God does and we have to trust that in His time everything will be what it is supposed to be.
John 13:15 KJV
“For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”
Christ gave us everything we need to be who we are supposed. He showed us how to act and talk. When we follow His example, He will show through us, so that others can see the hope that is in you!

Sister Angie: What are your hopes and dreams as you look to the future?
Miss Amanda: I am so looking forward to following God's plans for my life. I can't wait to meet and marry the man God has for me! I can't wait to be a wife and mama and homekeeper: the highest calling of a woman! I also hope that with everyday I change into who God wants me to be.

Miss Amanda, thank you for taking the time to share your life, aspirations, and insight with Growing in Grace. Your contributions are always thoughtful and educational. We wish the very best to you and your family and look forward to learning more as you progress through this wonderful life that God has given.
