I once read that camping really builds families into teams. I think there is something about facing adventure and adversity (yes, camping brings lots of challenges!) that causes us to really work together and make amazing memories.
Our family tent camps so it takes a lot of planning a preparation to go smoothly. Since we camp at the same place every year that makes it a bit easier because I know what to expect and where the nearest stores are if we forget something crucial. I also recommend making copies of your camping master list and storing them on your computer or in a filing cabinet. This will ease the packing and shopping process and prevent “forgetting” things! (You’ll still probably forget
something, but trust me, that is actually part of the fun… eventually!)
If you can’t get away this year how about a day camp at home?
Crafts:
Beading
Lanyards
Pinecone art
Leaf art
God’s Eyes (popsicle sticks and yarn)
Clay or play-doh
Activities:
Nature hike (bring a camera or sketch pad)
Scavenger hunt
Water play
Obstacle course
Side walk chalk
Music:
If you play guitar this would be a fun time to get it out and teach your children your favorite hymns and campfire songs!
Snacks (some of these foods my children are ONLY allowed to eat when we camp so that makes them extra special!)
Trail mix
Yogurt
Muffins
S’Mores
And, of course a BBQ/cook-out will round out the fun!

Oh, yes. Camping. My parents aren’t big on tent camping, so last year I think it was, we got a trailer, and went camping maybe twice in it. Well, this year, my parents decided that a trailer wasn’t really best for us, so we got a class C motorhome! We have already gone camping several times, although it snowed on both adventures. This summer we are wanting to go camping a lot, and already have several trips planned.
Yes, camping is the life for me!
Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

Some of my favorite memories are of camping as a little girl. For now, we have pitched a tent in the dining room of our new house until we get furniture. Great ideas here. Thanks!
