Without Complaining
How often have I committed to doing this, but fallen short? Too many times that I care to mention! I am learning to delegate some chores though. Recently, I asked my daughter to do the dishes for me.
Later, when I glanced over at her, she was happily washing each dish ever so thoughtfully. Praise rang out from her proud mother! “Thank you for doing such a through job of washing the dishes, Olivia.”
She responded by telling me, “I’m pretending I am washing wounded soldiers, Mommy.” “Wounded soldiers?” I asked. “Why wounded soldiers?” “I like to pretend I’m doing fun and interesting things while I’m working,” she replied.
How happy I was for her being able to rejoice in all things! How convicted I was over my lack of ability to attend to that very task with a happy heart just days earlier!
Daughters, as your mother seeks to encourage and build you up, remember that we too are growing in grace and learning how to be faithful children of God. Even YOU can be an inspiration to your own mom!
Philippians 2:14-15, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;”(KJV)
Father, help us to function with a child-like heart of joy, love, and thankfulness. Give us strength and grace to do everything without complaining. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I think that what your daughter did was pretty amazing I like that idea I think I might try that! ( I don’t like to do chores at all) You know if a mother asks a girl to clean her room she can play like she is a maid cleaning for a beutiful princess in order to go outside or get on the computer. Just a thought that came into my head. thanks for sharing this idea with me! ( sorry for my incorrect spelling)
Blessings,

My little girl counts folding the clothes as a treat. If only I could look at it the same way! Thanks for this!
Wow~ that is so good of your daughter. I am 14~ and I have to sweep twice a week~ and I usually complain about it. I know I need to stop! LOL! If I wouldn’t complain, I would’ve gotten the sweeping done a lot faster!
Well~ I’ll try my hardest!

Isn’t that the truth! Complaining interferes with our ability to get things accomplished. It also steals our joy! It’s a comfort to know that we can rely on God’s strength and not our own. (Phi 4:13)

Oh, how I wish I could be like that! Yes–I will start tommorw as I do my chores making up stories for them, let’s just hope I don’t get to caught up with the story that I forget me job, like Anne when she was baking the cake in “Anne of Green Gables”!
