Hello-
My name is Rachel. I'm fourteen-years-old. I have been homeschooled my entire life. I have 7 brothers and sisters. I live on a farm with almost seventy chickens. We have three different kinds: Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, (these both lay brown eggs) and Americaunas (These ones are neat; they lay blue-green or turquoise eggs, and they are different colours themselves).
We also have seven Nubian goats. Five are females: Chloe is a blonde doe, and she had three kids, Belladonna (mine), Eamane (these two are girls) and the boys, Cowboy (he looks like a cow.) and Elessar. Heidi is a brown doe, and had three kids also, but her two bucks died when they were born. She did however have a doeling that survived. We named her Keci, its Turkish for 'goat'.
We also have two horses: Dulcy and Estrella. Dulcy is an Appaloosa with a little Quarter Horse, and Estrella is a Quarter Horse with a little bit of Appaloosa. Funny, huh? I take care of our two dogs: Pemberley stays in the barn. He is a lab/blue heeler mix. Blondie stays in the house, and she is a retriever/lab mix. She is blonde, as you can tell from her name. I also have a pet rabbit named Daisy. She is a Himalayan.
So, now that you know about what I do and take care of everyday, I'll tell you about what I like to do in my spare time.
I enjoy anything to do with the Bible: studying it, and reading over Scripture, and copying it down to a piece of paper. I like reading about the prophesies concerning the end days and the coming of Christ. I also like to read over and study the qualifications of women in the Bible.
I also have an interest in drawing, painting, sketching, and looking at others' art. I love cooking and baking. I am learning new recipes and trying different things. I love animals too, as you can see from the above. I want to have a farm when I grow up, with a cow or two, a couple horses for riding and plowing, chickens, goats, and maybe a sheep or two for wool.
I also hope to learn about breeding rabbits and selling them. I am very big on books and anything to do with writing and journaling. Historical fantasy books are a favourite to me. I like reading about the time of knights and ladies and the pioneer time. I also blog. Mom got us older girls blogs about two years ago, in March 2006. I blog at two different blogs and post recipes for a kids group blog. I also enjoy crafty stuff and scrapbooking with Mom and the girls.
I want to have a farm when I grow up as I said before. I plan on living in the country and having a homestead. I want to live in an old house and have a wood burning stoves. I want to live like the people did in pioneer days, but I'll have a computer, telephone, and a few modern appliances. I won't need anything like a mower, because I probably won't have enough grass for my horses and goats anyways!
I want to live Biblically. I will do this by following all the instructions of the Bible for young ladies and women in Titus 2 and 1 Timothy 2. I am doing Polished Cornerstones in school, reading Beautiful Girlhood by Mable Hale, and a few others. I am learning how to keep a home and raise a family. I am trying to do as God instructs by following the instruction of my parents. I hope to be ready to marry when God wants me to and be the wife God's intends women to be.
Some of my favourite Bible verses:
John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Proverbs 31:10 - "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."
Titus 2:3-5 - 3 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.
4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children.
5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God be not blasphemed. "
1 Timothy 2:9-10 - "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10But (which becometh a women professing Godliness) with good works. "
Matthew 19:14 - "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. "

I am glad to be a part of this magazine, and I hope my writings will help girls to live Biblically. May God bless you!
